Hazmat & Regulated Freight
Endorsed drivers, correct placards, correct paperwork — and a dispatcher who asks what is actually in the box before saying yes.
Cargo Taxi Deliveries hauls hazardous materials out of Los Angeles with hazmat-endorsed drivers: flammable liquids, corrosives, lithium batteries, compressed gases, chemicals and limited-quantity shipments. Loads are placarded, papered and segregated to 49 CFR requirements, and dispatch confirms the proper shipping name and hazard class before a truck is assigned.
Hazmat is the one category where the paperwork is the job. A drum of a flammable liquid is not difficult to transport; a drum of a flammable liquid with the wrong proper shipping name on the bill, the wrong placard on the truck, or an emergency response number nobody answers is a violation, a fine and potentially a far worse day. So every hazmat booking starts with the same questions: what is it, what is the UN number, what is the packing group, and how is it packaged.
The work covers flammable liquids and solids, corrosives, compressed gases, oxidisers, lithium batteries in their various forms, and the enormous category of limited-quantity and consumer-commodity shipments that move under relaxed rules but still have to be right. Segregation rules are observed on mixed loads — some things do not travel next to other things, and that is not negotiable regardless of how much space is left on the truck.
There is a hard line here worth stating plainly: a carrier that will take any hazmat load without asking what it is should not be trusted with the ones it can take. Dispatch will decline loads that require authority, equipment or a security plan the operation does not have, and will say which. That is a better outcome for everyone than a truck turned away at a gate.

Questions
Hazmat Freight, answered.
Are your drivers hazmat certified?
Drivers assigned to hazardous loads hold a current hazmat endorsement. Ask dispatch to confirm the endorsement for your specific class before booking — a carrier should be able to answer that immediately and in writing, and one that treats the question as unusual is telling you something.
What hazmat classes will you not carry?
Explosives, and any class requiring authority, equipment or a security plan the operation does not hold. Dispatch will tell you which category your load is in on the call and will decline rather than take a booking that cannot be run legally — a truck turned away at a receiving gate costs you more than a straight answer.
Can you ship lithium batteries?
Yes. Lithium-ion and lithium-metal batteries move under specific special provisions depending on whether they are shipped alone, packed with equipment, or installed in equipment, and on their watt-hour rating. Dispatch will ask which case applies, because the packaging, marking and paperwork are different for each and the shipper is responsible for getting them right.
What information do you need to quote a hazmat load?
The proper shipping name, the UN number, the hazard class, the packing group, the quantity, and how it is packaged. Those six items decide the placard, the paperwork, the segregation and whether the load can be taken at all. A quote given without them is a guess.
